Synopsis

A foundational article, published in the Revista Brasileira de Ciências Policiais (Brazilian Journal of Police Sciences), on the institutional design and functional autonomy of the Federal judicial police under the 1988 constitutional order. It shows that republican efficiency in combating organized crime and corruption requires organic guarantees of investigative impartiality, protection against improper political interference and strict adherence to democratic legality.
